General Overview:
The Campus Engagement team will develop programming for a very large constituency in South Florida (Broward, Miami, and Palm Beach) including alumni, fans, parents, and donors.  The Assistant Director, Campus Engagement assists the Director, Campus Engagement with the planning, management, marketing, implementation, and analysis/measurement of all campus based programming to include but not limited to specialty athletics programming, alumni awards ceremony, Alumni Weekend, and the Distinguished Alumni Lecture Series. In addition, all programming will contain strategies for fundraising that will galvanize constituents into a culture of philanthropy.

Essential Responsibilities:
•    Assist the Director, Campus Engagement with the development of a strategic vision, management, marketing, and execution of all campus based programming to include but not limited to specialty athletics programming, alumni awards ceremony, Alumni Weekend, and the Distinguished Alumni Lecture Series for the University of Miami that foster a high level of alumni engagement and that meet the established metrics developed for the programs. 
•    Help to develop fundraising strategies that will be built into all campus based programming to ensure the creation of a culture of philanthropy.
•    Assist with the development and execution of the annual operational plan for campus based programming that includes specific, measureable goals and metrics. 
•    Help to identify and develop new campus based programming opportunities and establish appropriate metrics for designated programs.
•    Identify, recruit, and cultivate volunteer leaders to provide support for university programs, such as Young Alumni Leadership Council, UM Alumni Association Board, reunion committees, ’Canes Communities, and Annual Giving etc.
•    Develop a plan to implement benchmarks within the campus based programs (i.e. alumni engagement, capture "lost" alumni, update of alumni records, peer benchmarking, etc.) and to utilize these benchmarks to create a culture of continuous improvement.
•    Serve as the liaison with all appropriate departments, and schools and colleges for all campus based programming, including coordination of a University-wide calendar of activities.  
•    Ensure awareness and engagement is maximized for all campus based programs and events by using recruitment and communication vehicles including but not limited to social media, direct mail, list serves, websites, telephone campaigns, committee outreach efforts, and personal contacts.
•    Assist the Director, Campus Engagement with the development of engagement strategies and meeting designated engagement goals.
•    Administer and manage the fiscal reporting for assigned budgets. 
•    Benchmark and track important alumni outreach objectives including alumni engagement within designated programs.
•    Serve as responsible person in charge of campus based programs in absence of the Director, Campus Engagement.
•    Assist the Associate Vice President of Engagement, Assistant Vice President of Lifelong Engagement, and the Director, Campus Engagement with any other matters or responsibilities deemed appropriate.
•    Responsible for the supervision of the corresponding Administrative Assistant as it relates to all assigned programs, and during the absence of the Director, Campus Engagement.
•    Responsible for the recruitment, management, engagement, maintenance/accuracy of related constituent records, supervision of alumni volunteers and volunteer groups within identified programs.
•    Benchmark, monitor, and adjust as necessary, the assigned program areas as they relate to defined goals, procedures, budgets and timetables.


Qualifications:
Candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business/ Management, Communications or related field, with at least 3 years’ experience. Equivalent combinations of education/experience may be considered. Previous experience in supervising staff, working with volunteer based support groups, and special event coordination is essential. Need to be a strategic thinker with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and philosophy of teamwork and hands on implementation.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required and the ability to interact with all University constituents. Extreme flexibility due to the high time demands of the position. This position requires extensive evening and weekend work, extending past forty hours per week on a regular basis. Some travel required.
