Position Summary

The Assistant Director, Student Employment, is responsible for the administration of federal, state, and institutional student employment programs at the University of Denver. Approximately 1,100 students receive a work award each year. The Assistant Director develops and maintains active, positive relationships with Shared Services, Human Resources, and the work-study supervisors at DU. The Assistant Director must be able to explain complex financial aid rules and regulations, calculations, and rationale behind institutional policy and procedure in a simple and easy to understand manner to campus colleagues of varying levels. He or she monitors federal, state, and institutional work award spending levels, adjusts work awards, assists with work award packaging, and assists with the completion of the FISAP. The Assistant Director works as a team with the Associate Director, Compliance and the Associate Director, Communications to develop and recommend policies and implement procedures. The Assistant Director represents DU as a professional member of the Office of Financial Aid, and reports to the Associate Director, Communication.




Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong skills in conflict resolution, verbal and written communication, and time management.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be highly detail-oriented and organized.
  • Proficiency with database systems and standard MS software applications.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Three years of professional work experience in financial aid, payroll, human resources, or other related field.
    • A related continued education degree may substitute for two years of work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience in higher education.
  • Experience with iBanner.
  • Experience with web editing.

Work Schedule
This position is 3/4 time, working roughly 28 hours per week working with in the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (M-F)

Salary Range:
Salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.
