Under the direction of the Director of UNCF Mellon Programs, the incumbent manages and coordinates the day-to-day data management and communications activities of the UNCF/Mellon Undergraduate Fellowship Program and UNCF/Mellon Faculty Career Enhancement Programs. This is a grant-funded position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•Primary responsibility for executing activities associated with Undergraduate Fellows Program
•Data Base tracking of Undergraduate and Faculty Programs and serve as Programs Liaison from selection of UNCF/Mellon Fellows to Ph.D.
•Monitor activities/communications regarding Faculty Career Enhancement Programs and Undergraduate Fellows Program
•In absence of Director, serve as voice of Programs
•Travel on behalf of Director to promote Programs
•Serve as Liaison between Programs Office and all Mellon Affiliates (Woodrow Wilson Foundation, Social Science Research Council, and Faculty Residency Sites)
•Maintain UNCF/Mellon Programs website with regular updates focusing on Undergraduate Fellows and Faculty Fellows
•Work with Programs Associate to develop and maintain newsletter
•Primary responsibility for all Faculty Programs and Undergraduate Fellows Tracking and Follow-up
•Serve as liaison between Programs Office and Faculty Program Participants
•Responsible for working with Director and Senior Administrative Assistant to plan and execute logistics related to undergraduate and faculty career enhancement programs
•Provide support for Faculty Career Enhancement Consultants
•Manage database on all Faculty and Undergraduate Fellows participants
• Work with Senior Administrative Assistant to monitor all budget requests and allocations regarding above responsibilities
•Be point of contact for faculty career enhancement programs before forwarding to Director
•Provide weekly updates to Director on Faculty Career Enhancement Activities including progress and challenges
•Manage web presence for Undergraduate Fellowship and Faculty Career Enhancement Opportunities
•Assist Director with flow of communications on behalf of Programs
•Participate in weekly discussions/ updates with Director regarding progress and challenges of all programs

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. The Incumbent must have experience working within academic settings managing pipeline programs.

The incumbent must have excellent leadership, organizational and programming skills. Must have experience with data base management and effective follow-up and coordination of data. Interpersonal and communication skills are very important as you interact with program constituents.

This work requires excellent writing and oral communication skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, operation and procedural manuals, and professional business periodicals/reports. The incumbent must have the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policies/procedure manuals. The work also requires the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from parents, students, faculty, staff, and constituents of UNCF, faculty, staff and students.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) which includes creating flyers; typing letters/memos and e-mails; creating spreadsheets that include formulas; presentations plus things such as creating brochures, creating tables, newsletters, graphs, and forms.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s or Ph.D. degree and a minimum of three years of related academic experience in Mellon disciplinary areas (humanities, anthropology, sociology and interdisciplinary studies within the humanities) are preferred.
