Program Director of Occupational Therapy Master's Program

Maria College of Albany, a private, co-educational, Catholic college, is accepting applications for the position of Program Director of Occupational Therapy Master’s Program. Maria College has a long history of health professional education, which currently includes nursing, health & occupational sciences, healthcare management and occupational therapy assistant programs. The college seeks to build upon a very successful ACOTE accredited occupational therapy assistant program that has been in existence for over 41 years with a master’s in occupational therapy. The mission of Maria’s Occupational Therapy Program is to give students a quality academic and clinical education in preparation for work with individuals of all abilities, ages, and from various cultural and socioeconomic groups. The program is based on the altruistic and compassionate values shared by the occupational therapy profession and the College’s founders, the Sisters of Mercy—both acknowledging the value of human differences and individuality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach associate’s and master’s degree courses in occupational therapy as well as bachelor’s level in health and occupational sciences for day, evening and weekend classes.
  • Provide and/or supervise academic advisement to students.
  • Serve on departmental and college committees.
  • Develop appropriate applied research activities and mentor graduate students in research scholarship.
  • Coordinate student participation and quality in clinical sites.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Doctoral degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by a regional accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE).
  • Applicants must be registered by NBCOT and hold a current OT license for the State of New York.
  • Minimum of 8 years of documented experience in the field of occupational therapy.
  • This experience must include:
    • Clinical practice as an occupational therapist;
    • Administrative experience including, but not limited to, program planning and implementation, personnel management, evaluation, and budgeting;
    • Scholarship (e.g., scholarship of application, scholarship of teaching and learning); and
    • At least 3 years of experience in a full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the postsecondary level.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and commitment to excellence in teaching students of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to collaborate with professionals in academic and clinical settings.
