Lecturer – Athletic Training
The University of Miami is a private research intensive institution with over 15,000 students located in suburban Coral Gables just minutes from downtown Miami. The University’s 12 colleges and schools offer degrees in 150 undergraduate, 130 masters, 60 doctoral and two professional areas of study. The School of Education & Human Development at the University of Miami houses three academic departments: Teaching and Learning, Educational and Psychological Studies and Kinesiology & Sport Sciences. The Athletic Training program is part of the Department of Kinesiology & Sport Sciences.
The position is a nine-month Lecturer (non-tenure track) position beginning August 15, 2019. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching graduate and/or undergraduate courses within the department. The candidate will teach 12 credit hours per semester (Fall & Spring); mentor and advise students in the Athletic Training program; assist the Program Director with curriculum development and updates; assist with recruitment of students; and engage in service-related activities. The candidate must be student-oriented and possess strong leadership skills conducive to sustaining and expanding a premier Athletic Training program.
Earned Master's degree required, terminal degree preferred Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and in good standing with the BOC Licensed Athletic Trainer in the State of Florida (or eligible) Knowledge of CAATE standards and Educational Competencies
Two years of Athletic Training teaching and/or clinical experience Exceptional interpersonal and recruiting skills Active professional involvement at the state, district and/or national levels
