Part-Time Lecturer, Studio Music and Jazz

The University of Miami Frost School of Music is accepting applications for a Part-Time Lecturer for the Studio Music and Jazz department.  The salary is competitive. The successful candidate will have a strong record of accomplishment and demonstrated performance experience in jazz styles.  Candidate will have significant experience teaching jazz and teaching/directing ensembles and/or small groups in a university music school or conservatory context. 

Principal duties include teaching in the Studio Music and Jazz department. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.

Required qualifications:  

         Substantive national and/or international credits in the music industry and   

         demonstrated expertise in jazz performance. 

Experience teaching technique, theory, and style with a focus on jazz, among other genres.

         Experience teaching non-traditional music students.

         Doctoral degree in music is preferred. However, candidates with exceptional

         professional and/or academic credentials will also be considered.

         Familiarity with either Finale or Sibelius notation software. 

Desired qualifications

         Demonstrated proficiency in jazz piano, and jazz harmony 

         Experience teaching jazz piano, jazz harmony, jazz improvisation,        

         jazz composition. 

         Experience teaching/directing small jazz combos or large jazz ensembles. 

         Proficiency with Digital Audio Workstations, such as ProTools Ableton Live,

         Logic, Cubase.
