Neurology Stroke Division 


The incumbent will be appointed at the rank of non-tenure earning Assistant Professor on the clinical educator track in the Stroke Division, Department of Neurology at the University of Miami School of Medicine. The incumbent will rotate on inpatient wards and cover the stroke service at Jackson Memorial Hospital - South, and will also provide outpatient professional medical services in all scheduled JSCH clinics related to the stroke program. 
The incumbent will collaborate with JSCH personnel to implement the quality goals of the stroke program, and will participate in the education of neurology residents and fellows along with conducting research and mentoring residents/fellows with their research. 
This position will be reporting to the Division Chief for Stroke. 


1)    Care for patients in the inpatient and outpatient settings at Jackson Memorial Hospital - South
2)    Complete applications with the American Heart Association and The Joint Commission to attain primary stroke center certification
3)    Train/mentor physicians, staff, and the community related to a stroke program at JSCH
4)    Eeducation program with the EMS crews
5)    Preparation and presentation at teaching conferences
6)    Obtain data and results that can be used to submit an application for future clinical research awards


Education and experience: 

Requires an MD degree from a recognized accredited University ( or foreign equivalent). Stroke Fellowship is also required and board certification in Stroke is strongly recommended

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Good communications skills (face to face, over the phone and in writing)

•    Excellent customer service skills Ability to work collaboratively with other employees.
•    Good organizational skills.


1.    Work conditions: work is normally performed in an indoor office environment. Subject to frequent interruptions.
2.    Physical Activity Requirements:

•    Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or by telephone.
•    Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate keyboard and other office equipment.
•    Reaching to retrieve and maintain files.
•    Bending, pushing, moving and lifting files, documents and objects weighing up to approximately 15-20 pounds.
