The Department of Medical Wellness and Recreational the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine has part time opportunity for a Wellness Instructor.This Wellness Instructor will teach classes as primary instructor or substitute as needed in one or more of the following areas in which certified and experienced: Yoga (different levels), Mat & Reformer Pilates, Zumba, Studio Cycling, Body and Cardio Sculpt, Aqua, and a variety of other aerobic, dance, and muscle toning classes. Follow existing music and video policies. Offer challenging and educational exercise routines to help members reach their health and fitness goals while maintaining safety and remaining within scope of practice. Achieve daily class attendance goals by developing strong relationships with current class participants and working to attract new participants. Set up equipment, test microphone, and greet members as they enter fitness room.Maintain, clean, re-rack and organize all equipment at the end of your session/class.Support fellow instructor substitution needs. Attend mandatory meetings and master class sessions as required. Maintain all mandatory education certifications. Follow all instructor sign-in/sign-out procedures at front desk. Maintain constant communication with Fitness & Wellness Center administrative offices and supervisor by email, phone, in person, etc.Read and respond to emails on a daily basis to foster consistent communication. Understand and follow all Fitness & Wellness Center policies, procedures, and standards. Assist the Fitness & Wellness Center with member retention efforts by engaging members in class programs. Other job related duties as assigned.

Education and experience: National certifications and experience in industry specialty (Proof of Yoga Certification of 200+ Hour Level, Studio Cycling, Mat/Reformer Pilates, Group Exercise). Maintenance CPR certification. Minimum of three years teaching group fitness classes required. The incumbent must have passion for fitness, be able to work in a team environment, be self-motivated, reliable, communicate well, motivate members, display great attitude, have effective time management skills, and be able to work with little or no supervision. Any appropriate combination of education, certifications, and/or relevant work experience may be considered.
