The Assistant Coach, Women's Rowing will be responsible for assisting the Head Coach in the overall development and implementation of the Women's Rowing program.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Recruiting

  • Assist in both on-campus and off-campus recruiting, including: scout and evaluate prospective student athletes – domestically and internationally
  • Maintaining contact with prospective students-rowers as assigned
  • Traveling to competitions and recruiting events to identify and evaluate prospective student-rowers
  • Plan and coordinate official and unofficial visits for prospective student athletes
  • Work directly with the Head Coach to plan and coordinate scholarship money allocations
  • Maintaining up-to-date records regarding individual recruiting
  • Strict adherence to all department, university, ACC, and NCAA compliance rules

Coaching

  • Assist the Head Coach at all practices and competitions;
  • Direct one or more division area(s) (i.e. 3V, novice), as assigned, including:
  • Schedule, plan, and implement practices
  • Coordinate with training room staff for athlete’s injury treatment and prevention
  • Coordinate with strength and conditioning staff for students strength program
  • Coordinate with compliance staff for students’ compliance with Departmental, Institutional, Conference, and NCAA rules
  • Communicate with students in matters relating to the rowing program
  • Support and implement the Head Coach’s philosophy

Administration

  • Assist with program travel operations as needed
  • Assist with program business operations as needed including, but not limited to:
  • Budget maintenance
  • Purchasing
  • Liaising with the Equipment Office regarding apparel
  • General clerical duties
  • activities in compliance with Departmental, Institutional, Conference, and NCAA policies

Rules Compliance

  • Maintain knowledge of, and compliance with, NCAA, Atlantic Coast Conference, and University of Miami policies and procedures

Miscellaneous

  • Additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach
  • Represent the University of Miami, the Department of Athletics, and the Rowing Program in a professional and ethical manner

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree and one year coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level and/or national team level. Previous recruiting experience preferred.  Strong commitment to working within the NCAA Rules and guidelines and a commitment to the academic goals of the University of Miami. The candidate must have strong organizational, communication and public relations skills. Preferred Qualifications: Top level collegiate, club or international rowing or coxing experience.
