The Enterprise Business Solutions (EBS) team seeks a Database Analyst to be the technical expert for the effective use of the University of Miami’s Learning Management System (LMS). The Database Analyst is the primary contact for the LMS vendor, and performs all tasks related to the back-end of the system. This position creates and maintains LMS standards and governance, as well as collaborates with internal departments in the daily support of the LMS.

CORE JOB SUMMARY             

  • Collaborates with LMS vendor, internal departments, and HRIS leadership to design and maintain the Learning Management System (LMS) with respect to access, system updates, and integrations, maintenance of multiple environments, validation checks, user group organization, system protection and security, documentation, and usage guidelines.
  • Manages the resolution of users and stakeholders issues regarding the LMS to include monitoring training requests; troubleshooting issues, escalating issues as needed; tracking issues and reporting on trends; includes creation of job aids and FAQs to support end users
  • Assists in the processing of LMS Support Desk tickets to address end-user incidents.
  • Reviews, uploads, and tests training courses and videos.
  • Creates and monitors system access for department specific administrative users/super users.
  • Works with internal departments to ensure learning project launches are successful
  • Creates ad-hoc reports utilizing various data sources to support client needs.
  • Reviews LMS quarterly system releases and patches and communicates changes/trains as needed to user community.
  • Provides guidance to staff and clients on concepts and best practices in using LMS.
  • Provides strategic advice on architecture and technology of database design, use and administration.
  • Trains department administrators and managers, super users, on LMS features.
  • Participates in the testing and implementation of LMS advancements and/or conducts system testing as needed.
  • Researches and evaluates alternatives and recommend solutions for business issues related to LMS.
  • Works with internal HRIS resources to create LMS system enrollments that ensure training is deployed to appropriate audiences.
  • Conducts regular audit reports to maintain system integrity.

Education:

Associate’s degree in in Business, Human Resources, Information Systems or relevant field.

Experience:  

Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience with databases, project management, reporting, information systems, and data analysis. Any appropriate combination of relevant education/or work experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

  • Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
  • Ability to offer consultancy pertaining to appropriate use of LMS.
  • Proficient project coordination skills.
  • Must be customer-focused with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work with folks with diverse background (technical and non-technical).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve platform issues and problems.
  • Ability to work with highly confidential and sensitive information where discretion is essential.
