Strategic Analytics and Institutional Research

Full-time/ 40 hours/ 12-month

Clark University’s Strategic Analytics and Institutional Research Department seeks to fill the position of Senior Analyst. Reporting to the Director, the successful candidate will support the Office of Strategic Analytics & Institutional Research in providing, interpreting, and managing data for reporting and institutional decision-making. The Senior Analyst will work with various offices to analyze and report data to external agencies and organizations and internal constituencies, and also assist with survey data collection.

The ideal candidate is adept at working collaboratively, attentive to detail, and able to connect information to the big picture.

Duties and Responsibilities:

•Serve as lead in reporting to internal constituencies, generating queries and standard and canonical reports such as the Factbook and position request/ department reports, as well as ad hoc reports for offices/committees.

•Serve as lead in reporting to external agencies and organizations such as IPEDS, Princeton Review, and Peterson’s.

•Assist with building and maintaining institutional datasets, developing a strong understanding of underlying variables and cleaning datasets.

•Develop interactive visualizations and reports that address a variety of questions to internal audiences.

•Assist in conducting surveys to gather information from prospective and current students.

•Develop and conduct all phases of analyses on various projects and initiatives, from extracting, cleaning, compiling and analyzing data, to visualizing and presenting information.

•Write and maintain documentation for data and reporting processes.

•Other duties as assigned.


•Bachelor’s degree, required; experience with data analytics, sciences, social science or math or related field preferred.

•2-3 plus years of professional experience in a field that involves data analysis and/or data management; familiarity with higher education field preferred.

•Experience with managing and presenting data in software such as Tableau, r, SPSS and Qualtrics.

•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated experience with statistical analysis preferred.

•Experience managing, combining, and managing large datasets with attention to accuracy and detail, and understanding of database design.

•Ability to present complex data succinctly, visually, and in a meaningful and user-friendly manner to a variety of audiences.

•Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills. Ability to collaborate with people from a variety of backgrounds and experience with research.

•Familiarity with higher education and reporting agencies and organizations (e.g., IPEDS, AAUP, guidebooks)

•Interest in developing content knowledge of higher education data and the nuances that inform data reporting and analysis in higher education;

•Interest in staying up to date on current practices in strategic analytics and institutional research

•High level of self-initiative and interest to identify ways to automate, streamline and improve data cleaning, maintenance, analysis and presentation processes.

•Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously. Ability to be flexible and quickly adapt to changing information needs/systems and a fast paced office environment.

This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, 12 month position with excellent benefits, which include employee and family tuition benefits, 4 weeks’ vacation, generous retirement plan, free use of campus fitness center and many more.
