Program Associate, Innovative Policing Program - Georgetown University Law Center

The Program Associate is responsible for advancing the work of Georgetown's Innovative Policing Program. The Innovative Policing Program is dedicated to identifying and implementing new approaches to long standing , systemic challenges related to policing, including the legacy of racial, ethnic, and socio-economic discrimination and disparities in the criminal justice system.

The primary responsibility of the Program Associate include but are not limited to:
  • Administer and enhance the Police for Tomorrow (PfT) Project, a collaboration between the Innovative Policing Program and D.c.'s Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).
  • Support the expansion of the Police for Tomorrow concept in other law enforcement agencies.
  • Administer speaker sessions in MPD's recruit academy.
  • Coordinate or implement assessments of the Police for Tomorrow Project's impact .
  • Help define the mission of the Innovative Policing Program, in part by supporting efforts to identify additional projects that the Program on Innovative Policing should undertake, and by leading efforts to secure funding for those projects.
  • Lead coordination of Innovative Policing Program conferences, speaker panels, and similar events.
  • Assist in developing research and relevant materials.
  • Implement programs that reflect faculty interests.

Qualifications
  • A graduate degree (e.g. Juris Doctorate, M.A./S. or Ph.D)
  • 2+ years of work related to policing, criminal justice, civil rights or other advocacy is required
  • Exceptional interpersonal and project management skills
  • Adept at both self-direction and working in collaboration with a diverse range of audiences
  • Must have strong writing and speaking skills.
  • Knowledge, or an interest in learning more, about policing and the need to reduce its harms, both in Washington D.C. and elsewhere in the United States
  • Knowledge, or an interest in learning more, about Washington D.C. in particular, including its people and neighborhoods, its law enforcement agencies, and current challenges and opportunities
Preferred qualifications
  • A background in social science assessment/outcome measurement
