Assistant Vice President, Enrollment

Position Summary
Dominican University of California is seeking an individual for an Assistant Vice President of Enrollment position. The Assistant Vice President of Enrollment provides leadership and enrollment expertise to the Offices of Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions. Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment and Marketing, the AVP is charged with the development of an annual Strategic Enrollment plan supporting university initiatives and is responsible for developing and achieving admissions goals for both undergraduate and graduate programs. The AVP collaborates with the Director of Marketing, Director of Communications/Media Relations, and the Executive Director of Financial Aid and Operations along with university executives, deans and academic program directors to attract, recruit and enroll new students to Dominican.

Responsibilities

Strategy and Partnerships
  • Work under the supervision of the Vice President for Enrollment and Marketing to develop an annual Strategic Enrollment plan which addresses trends and institutional strategies for undergraduate and graduate recruitment.
  • Lead the admissions component of university initiatives and partnerships, such as Make School and Reimagining Citizenship. Work collaboratively both internally and externally to help create MOUs, develop short-term action plans, and coordinate implementation for admissions offices.
  • Provide support and leadership to partnerships such as the Buck Institute, BioMarin, Kaiser and other community-based organizations linked to recruitment and enrollment for specific academic programs.
  • Serve on the university-wide Enrollment Committee and act as chair in the VP's absence.
  • Collaborate with the VP for E&M, School Deans and Program Directors/Dept. chairs to set and meet enrollment targets.
  • Lead the undergraduate recruitment/admissions team to execute strategy effectively.
  • Collaborate with Deans and Graduate Program Directors to assess the marketability and recruitment potential of existing and new programs or certificates.

Recruitment

1. Support the Director of Undergraduate Admissions with student recruitment as follows:
  • Fall and spring recruitment travel including college fairs and high school visits in the Bay Area, SoCal and other territories as designated. Evening and weekend hours will be required throughout the year in addition to overnight travel for recruitment.
  • Attendance and speaker duties for on-campus recruitment and yield events.
  • Management of vendors including but not limited to Search (Underscore), Colleges of Distinction, Hobsons, RaiseMe, and others that develop in the future.
2. Contribute to the communications process for prospective students and applicants by working collaboratively with the Marketing Office and the Enrollment Communications Manager.
3. Develop and improve partnerships with community colleges; support maintenance and development of articulation agreements by working closely with Dominican's Registrar.
4. Support Graduate Admissions counselors with strategy and recruitment as follows:
  • Hire, manage, train and develop counselors on recruitment practices.
  • Develop strategies specific to individual programs.
  • Develop and implement application generation activities. Manage vendor relationships.
  • Attend community events and recruitment fairs as needed.

Application Review
  • Review student files including transcripts, test scores, essays, applications, and letters of recommendation.
  • Approve final undergraduate admission decisions in consultation with vice president.
  • Review and analyze application and admission process each year to maximize efficiency and consistency.

Project Management and Budgeting
  • Serve as the lead on university partnerships (as listed above) and assigned projects throughout the year.
  • Responsible for budget oversight in coordination with the VPEM.

Reporting and Analytics
  • Review and analyze enrollment funnel data reports (Slate CRM, RNL, etc.) to optimize strategies to meet enrollment goals.
  • Coordinate with IR and Executive Director of Admission Operations to generate appropriate enrollment data and funnels to present to VP of Enrollment, Enrollment Committee, academic program directors, etc.
  • Create strategies based on enrollment data analysis and make data driven decisions to execute strategies.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in admissions or enrollment management
  • Experience in developing and maintaining collaborative professional relationships
  • Effective public speaking, verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in collecting and analyzing data for recruitment metrics
  • Proven ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds
  • Ability and willingness to travel
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution
  • Knowledge of trends in recruitment, admissions, and financial aid
  • Prior experience with Slate or other CRM admissions-related software and technology solutions
  • Experience developing data-informed enrollment strategies

Additional Position Information
