The School of Arts & Sciences at Clarkson University seeks adjunct faculty and part time positions for Summer 2019 and academic year 2019 – 2020.
Occupational Therapy Adjunct Instructor:
Job Summary
The part time adjunct instructor facilitates meaningful learning of all course competencies and supports both foundational and innovative learning within a supportive educational environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to provide education through highly engaged instruction that will enable graduates to fulfill the evolving needs of the profession and the client population. The department encourages a culture of learning that values mutual responsibility and respect, life-long learning and ethics as well as personal and professional development. This position is part time/adjunct only. Teaching responsibilities may include teaching in one or more appointed course within the Occupational Therapy Program as the course content aligns with applicant’s clinical expertise. Work schedule will be determined based on department needs. Classes may be offered during the day, evening and/or weekend. Please indicate your availability when applying for this position. The successful applicant will have demonstrated strong content knowledge and experience related to the OT curriculum.

•Designs and delivers class instruction through the development of instructional plans to meet course objectives, develops activities that support engaged learning, and delivers instruction aligned with departmental expectations.
•Enables the achievement of pre-described exit competencies for student achievement.
•Establishes and maintains a classroom environment conducive both to learning and to student involvement
•Promotes student success by showing flexibility in style and work schedule as well as exhibiting a passion for the profession, teaching and engaging students in their own learning process.
•Manages the learning environment through keeping accurate records, submitting grades and other reports on time, and enforcing school/campus academic and attendance policies.
•Demonstrates high professional behaviors: continuation of professional/technical skills development, the introduction of professional advocacy and activism, and the active awareness of professional trends and opportunities.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors of Arts in Occupational Therapy or related field
Job Requirements
Knowledge:
•Bachelor’s degree required in a field related to the classes to be taught.
•If an Occupational Therapist, must be licensed (or eligible to be licensed) as OTR/COTA in the state of New York
•Minimum of two years clinical experience
•Teaching experience in clinical, professional or academic settings
Skills:
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to build successful relationships with student populations.
•Excellent professional behaviors
•Capacity for innovation and interprofessional engagement
Abilities:
•Ability to develop a professional rapport with diverse school/campus constituents.
•Ability to learn from students’ participation, demonstrates fair and consistent behavior in all matters, and shows compassion without being ineffectual
Preferred Qualification:
Master’s degree Occupational Therapy or related field
