General Summary This ten-month position serves as the subject librarian to (applied) science departments and schools in the College of Arts and Sciences and/or the College of Applied Science and Techology. This work includes the following:

Liaison Duties:
Act as the primary contact to the library for the administrators, faculty, and staff in liaison department(s) and/or school(s). Proactively communicate about library matters, resources, services, etc. Cultivate a relationship with the department and/or school chair(s) and/or faculty library liaison(s).

Collection Development:
Oversee all aspects of collection development and maintenance, including purchases, weeding, and budgetary management for the materials in the assigned department(s) and/or school(s).

Information Use & Fluency:
Plan, develop, conduct, teach, and assess library instruction sessions for the departments and/or school in the assigned department(s) and/or school(s).
Develop and maintain LibGuides and handouts for the assigned department(s) and/or school(s).

Research Services:
Provide general and in-depth reference service at reference desk(s).
Provide in-depth reference by appointment, drop in and in the stacks and through e-mail and chat.
Participate in evening/weekend reference desk rotation.

Serves on library committees, as appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned. Regular attendance is both an expectation and requirement for this position.
Additional Information: Workspace varies per office location, but noise typically includes building's HVAC system, office equipment and patron traffic. Some required resources are located outside the immediate work area. Reference service points are public spaces with high public foot traffic and moderate noise. Library materials may contain dust or mold. Classroom settings may include darkened spaces and use of audiovisual equipment. Hours include evenings and weekends in rotation.
Required Qualifications 1. Advanced degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent from an ALA-accredited library program or from a program recognized by the American Library Association as an international equivalent.

4. Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
5. Ability to work collaboratively in a strongly collegial and participative environment
6. Ability to manage diverse assignments in a rapidly changing organization
7. If this position is Security Sensitive or if you are subject to a criminal background investigation based on University policy, employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.
Desired Qualifications: 1. Experience as a subject librarian with applied science and/or science disciplines.
2. Degree(s) in applied science and/or science disciplines.
Necessary Licenses/Certifications/Degrees Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an American Library Association-accredited master's program or an international equivalent recognized by the American Library Association.
