The Summer Academic Workshop (SAW) is a program designed for first-generation college students, students from working-class backgrounds, and/or students of color. The summer component entails an intensive four week residential program which provides selected students with a rigorous academic transition to college and a lasting support community. Students also engage in leadership development, community excursions, and a series of dialogues with key campus leaders. Students who participate in SAW have higher rates of leadership and engagement than the general student population, and many achieve and sustain academic excellence.
