The primary purpose of the Department of Computer Science (CS) isteaching undergraduate and graduate students and conducting research. Thedepartment is highly research active with multiple locations, including themain departmental offices in Halligan Hall and research lab and office spacesat 196 and 200 Boston Ave. The CS department has an annual operational budget(institutional and grant) totaling over $20 million. Undergraduate enrollmentshave increased dramatically over the past several years, from 35 graduatingseniors in 2010 to ~150 in May 2018. CS recently surpassed the Departments ofEconomics and International Relations as the biggest major across the Schoolsof Arts and Sciences and Engineering.

 

JobSummary:


Under minimal supervision, the Program Coordinator will provide advancedadministrative support for the graduate programs in the CS department, with asignificant focus on the Cybersecurity and Public Policy and other MS programs.S/he will handle complex and confidential situations and requests, and serve ina highly visible capacity as a resource for the department with students,staff, faculty and other constituents. S/he will produce and draft reports andother complex documents and materials. S/he will also gather data and preparesummaries or material for presentations in support of the department chair orthe graduate program directors. S/he will plan and coordinate meetings andspecial events, including invitations, transportation and housing, and agendas.Will coordinate additional special projects as needed. 


Responsibilities willinclude but are not limited to:

  • Tracking the progress of all graduate students toward their degrees

  • Managing the annual grad review process and the qualifying exam process

  • Guiding grad students through the administrative processes necessary tocomplete their degrees

  • Providing all administrative support for graduate admissions cycles

  • Responding to general queries from prospective students




QualificationsBasic Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED and 5+ years of administrative experience OR abachelor’s degree and 3+ years of administrative experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including word processing,editing and graphics functions, spreadsheets, and database knowledge
  • Excellent organizational, writing, and interpersonal skills
