The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is now accepting applications for a Full-Time Program Assistant in the Department of Leadership Studies.

The Program Assistant for the Department of Leadership Studies will provide administrative support for Department faculty. The Department of Leadership Studies hosts three graduate level programs, undergraduate instruction, and a scholars program.

Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Provost for Leadership, The Program Assistant will support academic programs and assist with project coordination for a variety of educational and student engagement activities. The Program Assistant handle reception and serve as the Department’s central contact person for faculty, staff, graduate students, cadets and the public. The Program Assistant will need to acquire a general understanding of the Department’s educational programs and course scheduling.

Competencies: The Program Assistant will need to have excellent organizational skills, adept technical skills, and project management proficiency.

Software: The position requires a solid knowledge of office software applications, including MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), as well as Adobe writable.

Learning Management Systems: In cooperation with Educational Instruction Technology staff, the assistant will provide basic administrative and online support to department faculty and students. Accordingly, this individual must be comfortable navigating learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvass).

College Computer Systems: The Program Assistant will need to become proficient in using the College’s systems for data input, reserving conference rooms and classrooms; as well as basic departmental timekeeping, financial, and budget programs.

Additional Tasks:

  • Office Management: Maintain office supplies by monitoring inventory levels and ordering based on needs and faculty requests. Manage office equipment and furniture maintenance and coordinate with the Physical Plant, campus Post Office, and other on-campus offices and services, as necessary. Maintain record of budget expenditures.
  • Events: Event planning and details, including catering and supply orders for departmental events.
  • Meetings: Schedule rooms for meetings, classes, and events; coordinate catering, check out and monitor return of keys to rooms.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of administrative and/or program assistant experience
  • Associates Degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Program and Administrative assistant experience in a college/university environment
