DESCRIPTION

The Student & Faculty Information Services (SIS-EMFIS) team develops and maintains applications that help manage the personal, academic and student financial information. We support key student business functions that include Admissions, Registration, Degree Audit, Academic History, Course Catalog, Course Schedule, Accounts Receivable, Housing and Financial Aid.

Our clients include students, faculty, and central business offices such as the Office of Admissions and Registrar, Student Business Services, Housing, and the Financial Aid Office.We are seeking students to assist our team in enhancing the existing applications. This position will allow you to gain valuable experience of working in an IT environment, where you will be developing new features, addressing requests and collaborate with many groups within the UC San Diego communities.

Key Responsibilities:
• Perform basic design, development, modification and debugging of software.
• Evaluates basic software for functional areas.
• Analyzes existing software or works to formulate logic for basic systems, prepares basic specifications and performs coding.
• Modify applications based on user's requests, improve application loggings and auditing.
• Provide end-users the power to customize text messages by incorporating Blub sub-system to web applications.
• Executes simple test plans, develops conversion and system implementation plans and implements unit tests.
• Applies the basics of source code control techniques and configuration management.
• Perform unit test, UAT and integration to ensure the product meets the specifications.
• Prepares system and programming documentation, works to software specifications and reports progress.
• Maintain application's documentations based on team’s standards.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be actively enrolled in classes throughout the duration of the internship (part-time or full-time).

  • Knowledge relating to the design development, modification and implementation of software including object-oriented and web programming.

  • Demonstrated experience in Java, JavaScript, CSS and HTML.

  • Self-motivated and able to follow directions from senior developers.

  • Strong ability to communicate technical information to technical.
