Job Description:
Function:
To assist teachers in caring for children in a preschool setting.
Responsibilities:
1. Prepares materials for learning centers as requested by teachers including cutting, pasting, copying, and compiling items.
2. Monitors children within the facility and the playground to ensure safety.
3. Leads a storytime for a classroom of children on alternating days throughout the month.
4. Attends staff meetings twice a month and completes 15 hours of approved professional development activities or courses each year.
5. Helps with set up and clean up for lunch and rest time.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
Relationships:
Continuous contact with co-workers and children to exchange information and explain rules, practices or functions.
Daily contacts with parents to exchange information and explain rules, practices or functions.
Responsibility for Final Decisions:
Responsible for own work. May assist others doing similar work.
Tasks involve multiple procedures with interrelated processes or steps. Work involves choosing the appropriate option or procedure to follow and applying established rules and procedures.
Errors are readily detected in the normal course of work by standard check or crosscheck.
Reports To: CDC Director
Work is performed independently on routine work, non-routine issues or questions are referred to the supervisor.
Education/Skill Requirements:
High School graduate.
Experience in preschool setting.
Ability to understand and use age appropriate activities and communication.
Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively.
Excellent communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 30 lbs. easily.
Ability to stand and walk around in indoor and outdoor spaces throughout the day.
Ability to occasionally reach and handle tools.
Ability to frequently stoop, kneel, and crouch to communicate with and assist children.
Ability to occasionally push and pull objects, lift and carry, or climb and balance.
Ability to work outside in all conditions: rain, cold, heat, etc.
Work Conditions:
Work is performed under preschool structure and conditions.
Work requires:
Staying on-site during hours of employment.
Schedule: Monday-Friday from 12:30-5:30pm.
Hourly wage: $13.00
