Other duties may be assigned.
- Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and demonstrates understanding of Deaf culture and its community. Demonstrated professional, communication, and team-work skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage short- and long-term projects; demonstrated effective communication skills, both in "live" and in written communication. Demonstrated effective organizational and planning skills, attention to detail, and follow-through.Utilizes technology in all aspects of the work, including the development and maintenance online communities, email listservs, video conferencing and other communication technology, especially Video Phone and Video Relay Services.Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a diverse group of people including professionals in education,rehabilitation, culture, psycho-social, linguistic and legal areas, parents and members of the deaf community.GURC Partnership: Support the GURC's public relations role and provide information about the academic, service, and support programs at the University, as well as other training, publications, outreach, partnership, enrollment, and recruitment initiatives. Assist with GURC's efforts to meet and report on contract objectives.Flexibility to travel (cities in Texas and the rest of the states in the region),Assist with organization and implementation of training workshops, conferences, seminars, and regional academic bowl competitions.Serve on departmental and institutional committees, as appropriate.
