School/Center OverviewThe School of Arts and Sciences forms the foundation of the scholarly excellence that has established Penn as one of the world’s leading research universities. We teach students across all 12 Penn schools, and our academic departments span the reach from anthropology and biology to sociology and South Asian studies. http://www.sas.upenn.edu/
DutiesDevelop and coordinate the non-academic aspects of the online experience for undergraduate & certificate students, in conjunction with other Penn LPS online advisors and administrators as required. Develop and administer student life programming for the community platform and encourage advisors, students, program directors and others to share information, collaborate and learn from each other. Support LPS goals of academic excellence and student retention. Develop and run online student life events, including new student orientation, the student resources website, and the student community platform. Develop, commission, and curate content for posting to forums, newsletters and other communications for students. Develop and run virtual events, podcasts, or other activities for NSO and community platform to help connect community members and encourage engagement with Penn programs. Weekend and evening hours required.
QualificationsQualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with online learning, student services & retention, or community building tools
Excellent written and oral communication skills; experiences developing resources & digital content
Strong skills in planning, hosting, and implementing detailed logistics for events
Experience monitoring trends in online community tools and student success.
Preferred
Experience working with student services in an educational setting
Familiarity with social media and tools that engage participation from users
Experience working in higher education
*Master’s degree in education-related field
