Job Description:

The Resident Director is responsible for facilitating a living and learning environment that is conducive to the personal development and academic achievement of all residents. This is a full time, live-in position with additional responsibilities in various areas falling under the Office of Residence Life. This position will oversee large scale programmatic efforts as well as oversee the Community Advisor programming model. This position will also assist with summer operations, assisting in the management of camps and conferences.

Job Duties:

• Manage marketing initiatives for various events and processes (i.e. Housing Selection);
• Oversee Community Advisor program model working closely with the Resident Director staff;
• Track Community Advisors progress in conjunction with the Resident Director/Community Advisor Program Coordinator;
• Foster a sense of community by establishing common goals and values;
• Communicate regularly with residents through individual interaction and community meetings;
• Be available for office hours in assigned residence hall weekly;
• Help residents to become familiar with and adhere to College rules and regulations set forth in the Housing Agreement, and Student Code of Conduct and help them realize the consequences of their behavior;
• Confront and document inappropriate behavior by residents;
• Ability to plan small and campus wide programs;
• Serve as a Hearing Officer for low level violations
• Participate in the Residence Director (RD) duty rotation;
• Organize and coordinate educational and social programs for building
• Supervise Community Advisor Staff living in assigned residence halls;
• Attend all meetings, trainings and professional development sessions scheduled by the Director of Residence Life;
• Work with individual students or groups regarding personal issues and make appropriate referrals;
• Assist with residential summer camps and conferences;
• Assist with the opening and closing of the residence halls at semester breaks and all vacation/break periods;
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred.
• Previous experience in residence life is preferred.
• Knowledge of issues pertaining to college life.
• Commitment and ability to create and maintain a diverse, multicultural community.
• Demonstrated experience in multicultural issues with a focus on education and training.
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, intervention and crisis management skills.
• Experience working with computers preferred.
• Valid driver's license.

Compensation:

• Apartment, and meal plan (when Dining Center is open);
• College will pay for apartment utilities, including, cable, heating, water, electrical & local telephone service;
• Resident Directors are afforded use of all College facilities (when available);
• $35,000.00 - $36,000.00 annual salary and full benefits package.
