This is a research position in the Office of Institutional Research. The position is responsible for carrying out diverse research projects using student and college data, utilizing a variety of analytical and evaluative procedures and with minimal supervision.Duties and Responsibilities
The job involves qualitative and quantitative analyses of data, examination of related and unrelated situations, drawing conclusions, devising solutions and alternatives and making recommendations in a timely manner to support institutional planning, policy formulation and decision making. The position engages in examination of internal and external data sources to study performance indicators and student outcomes data, and writes reports (with graphs/tables or other visuals) to present and communicate the data in an effective and informative manner. Using data, the position advises, supports, makes recommendations and acts as a consultant to college administration, committees and other constituencies.Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, business or related field or equivalent combination of education and applicable experience and/or training. Expert SAS programming experience. Experience in a research setting. Experience working with surveys and survey data. Ability to work under deadlines. Proficiency with MS Office Suite applications (esp. Word, Excel and PowerPoint).Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, business or related field or equivalent combination of education and applicable experience and/or training; Some experience with SAS for extracting and manipulating data from relational databases and statistical analyses is a plus; Experience within a research setting in Higher Education is desired.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Working knowledge and application of research techniques, methodology, statistical analysis and interpretation; considerable skill in PC applications as a resource tool; demonstrated ability to lead and conduct research projects and apply analytical and evaluative techniques, formulate conclusions and recommendations; excellent analytical, writing and communication skills are required. Also, the candidate will have extensive knowledge of data sources and appropriateness and ability to manage various research functions, prioritize and delegate tasks, and ensure the quality of work produced. Knowledge of research methods and statistics; superior analytical and organizational skills; exemplary oral and written communication skills; Experience in organizing and leading research projects.
