The Department of Teacher Education and Learning Sciences (TELS) advances education through scholarship, leadership, and advocacy. Faculty in TELS prepare professionals who are committed to equity and social justice, have deep content knowledge, demonstrate strong working knowledge of effective pedagogies, and realize the potential of digital technologies to enhance learning.

Essential Job Duties

The Department of Teacher Education and Learning Sciences (TELS) invites applications for a Teaching Assistant Professor in Educational Psychology. This is a one-year appointment with an expected teaching load of four courses per semester.

We are seeking a strong teacher educator with experience in developmental science, diversity/equity, and teacher education who can contribute to the preparation of teacher educators and educational psychology professionals at the undergraduate and graduate level.

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in educational psychology and general teacher education. The ideal candidate would have experience teaching at the K-12 level and experience in curriculum development.

The department anticipates multiple hires.

Other Work/Responsibilities

Creating syllabus prior to the first class; teaching each class section; creating and presenting course activities to student; grading assignments, providing written feedback to students in a timely fashion, and determining final course grade; holding office hours; meeting with Program Coordinator and/or Department Head regarding instruction if needed; other duties that relate to the course(s) being taught.

Minimum Education/Experience

PhD in educational psychology or a related field.

Strong methodological training in research, developmental science, diversity/equity, and curriculum development.

Departmental Required Skills

A commitment to diversity, social justice, and collaboration.

Scholarship and successful record of external funding in Teacher Education and Learning Sciences commensurate with rank.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

Experience teaching in a teacher education and/or literacy education program or department which trains teachers.
