Job Description:

The Student Success Division at York College of Pennsylvania is seeking applications for a highly skilled and team-oriented individual to serve as a part-time academic advisor for the Academic Advising Center. This individual's responsibilities will be in three main areas: (1) guiding Undeclared students through the major exploration process, which includes teaching them about academic requirements and appropriate course selection; (2) mentoring students in Back on Track- a required academic probation program; and (3) providing immediate aid for students who are in need of academic assistance or other support services through an early alert system. This individual is expected to provide advising services and assistance in the efficient operation of a smooth-running, multi-faceted, professional office that gives excellent service and support to students.

Requirements:

Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills; a keen interest in working with and helping students in an academic environment; the ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments; excellent computer skills including familiarity with Windows environment, Microsoft Office products, and academic advising software; the ability to work with minimal supervision; and the ability to work collaboratively with a team of advisors as well as with faculty, staff, and students.

Qualifications for this position are a bachelor's degree and a minimum of one year experience in an academic (preferably undergraduate) environment. Master's degree preferred.
