MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Analyze and review annual financial statements from USG institutions for completeness and accuracy.
  • Assists in the preparation of fiscal policies and procedures; reviews and makes state approves changes to the Business Procedures Manual.
  • Oversee component unit and affiliate determination and financial statement consolidation process.
  • Assist in annual financial statement consolidation efforts for the USG.
  • Research and answer accounting questions and issues for individual USG.
  • Maintains and updates Fiscal Affairs listserv and contact list.
  • Maintain, update and analyze the Aged Accounts Receivable Reports in support of annual accounts receivable reporting.
  • Coordinate and analyze Banner segregation of duties oversight for audit purposes.
  • Coordinates and implements training workshops.
  • Perform data analysis on various asset, liability, revenue or expenditure accounts for individual institutions and USG System-Wide as needed.
  • Assists with special projects as assigned.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Baccalaureate degree with emphasis in accounting or finance required.
  • Over one year of related experience required. (Governmental Accounting/Higher Ed experience preferred).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of Board of Regents policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of University System of Georgia policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of professional and governmental accounting standards.
  • Knowledge of the Fiscal Affairs Business Procedures Manual.
  • Knowledge of the Official Code of Georgia, Annotated.
  • Knowledge of budget management principles.
  • Skill in written communication to executive and subject matter expert audiences.
  • Skill in collaborating with multiple constituents.
  • Skill in decision making and problem solving.
  • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in excel data analysis functionality.
  • Ability to respond diplomatically to sensitive and critical issues.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task.
  • Ability to utilize PeopleSoft Financial Accounting System.
