Adjunct Professor in Economics
Goshen College invites applications for an Adjunct Professor in Economics.
The person in this position is to teach Principles of Macroeconomics (ECON 204). This course is a requirement for accounting and business majors and global economics minors.
Course Description: A general survey of economic relationships and processes in modern society. Focuses on macroeconomic topics: national-income accounting, aggregate-income determination, money and banking and international trade.
Expected enrollment in the course is 25-35 students; primarily sophomores.
The primary responsibility of a person in this position is to teach the course. This includes meeting with the class at its regularly scheduled time, preparing exams and quizzes and other class assignments as appropriate, grading these assignments in a timely manner, and providing feedback to students on how they are performing in class. The person is welcome but not required to participate in departmental and campus meetings.
Education and Experience:
A master’s degree in economics or business is required; a doctoral degree is preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Depth of knowledge in economics and an ability to integrate the content into the business discipline.Ability to create effective learning experiences for students.Basic technology skills and/or willingness to learn (spreadsheets, learning management software, education-specific software/applications)
The course is scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 – 9:50 am. The course begins on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 and concludes with a final exam during the week of December 10, 2019 (exact time is not yet scheduled). A one-week fall semester break is scheduled for the week of October 14, 2019.
Regular and scheduled availability is expected to allow students to access the professor for course-related questions beyond the scheduled course times. Either face-to-face or videoconference access is acceptable.
An ability to provide course instruction for 50 minutes.
