General Summary


Assist the Network Administrator in multi-campus support of personal Computer hardware, user support, communications, and networks. Required to travel, work flex time, and be available for rotation of on-call hours. Responsible for demonstrating LSSC's core value of Service Excellence; respect, competence, responsiveness, and collaboration, in all interactions.

Position reports to: Network Administrator
Incumbent supervises: Student Assistants

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Manage, install and repair desktop computers, Laptops, printers and peripherals.
  2. Provide user help desk support including software, hardware, and network support.
  3. Maintain and diagnose server, hardware, and software.
  4. Install and maintain network equipment, switches, & routers.
  5. Assist with creating and maintaining VLANS, and ports.
  6. Manage, and maintain desktop policies on the network.
  7. Assist with the management of phone systems, hardware and software.
  8. Support AV equipment.
  9. Oversee student assistants.
  10. Maintain current technology base and enhance diagnostic skills.
  11. Responsible for software licensing, hardware inventory and related equipment.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications


EDUCATION:
Two-year degree in related field desirable.

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 12 months working in PC repair, network support, PC programming, PC software support.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required


Detailed knowledge of current PC technology, including installation, repair, and network support. Knowledge of Cat 5 and Cat 6 cabling. Basic knowledge of Windows Server operating systems and Active directory. Intermediate knowledge of Windows Desktop Operating systems. Skills to troubleshoot and diagnose hardware, software and user issues. Skills necessary to maintain Windows Servers including backups and routine maintenance. Skills necessary to maintain phone station with phone switch. Ability to interface with vendors to solve difficult issues. Ability to communicate clearly among peers and with the user community. Ability to document all procedures and processes and keep current. Ability to follow up on uncompleted tasks. Ability to demonstrate the four College Service Excellence Standards of respect, competence, responsiveness and collaboration when interacting with students, employees, visitors, and community members. This position requires the employee to own and use a personal communication device (cell phone) for successful job performance.
