DESCRIPTION

UC San Diego Health is a Magnet designated organization, which is a prestigious recognition that applies to only 6% of all U.S. hospitals. Magnet is the “gold standard” for nursing excellence and is based on strengths in five key areas which include transformational leadership, structural empowerment, exemplary professional practice, new knowledge, innovation and improvements and empirical quality results. UC San Diego Health has held its Magnet status since 2011.

An exciting opportunity is currently available in Women and Infants Services at UC San Diego Medical Center for a Perinatal Nurse. This nurse will complete 2 training loops; (1) Postpartum/Antepartum and (2) Labor & Delivery over a several year period to ensure competency attained in each area. After completing training in each specialized area, the nurse will have scheduled rotations through each area to maintain skill sets providing family-centered care while ongoing training takes place.

Nurses committed to professional development and the perinatal nursing model should apply. Those successful will be excellent critical thinkers, time managers, self-motivated, assertive, effective communicators, and dedicated to completing the education and study necessary to achieve the program goals.
