DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision, provides comprehensive administrative, clerical and logistical support; aids and assists students and faculty in the efficient operation for the Global Business Department. Serves as confidential assistant and functions as the key support staff person in coordination and implementation of the department's day-to-day office operations. Also, provides administrative support for the Global Business Advisory Board, Global Business-related scholarship award programs, and University Fulbright Program.

  • Serves as a public face and liaison for the Global Business Department as first point of contact for students, faculty, staff, administrators, parents and visitors.
  • Supervises student workers including hiring, training, performance evaluation and timesheet review.
  • Manages classroom scheduling and faculty course evaluations.
  • Updates and maintains department and faculty information on University website.
  • Provides administrative support to the Global Business Department in budget tracking and management, travel arrangements, filing, answering telephones, creating and submitting expense reimbursements, reconciling expenses, ordering office supplies, etc.
  • Supports the Global Business Advisory Board by serving as the editor of the Global Business Advisory brochure; gathering data on best practices related to the Advisory; and participating in fund-raising efforts involving Global Business Advisory members and graduates.
  • Aids the University Fulbright program and competition by coordinating meetings for an interdisciplinary faculty committee of seven to eight members, as well as promoting the program to students and faculty, works with Fulbright program personnel.
  • Assists with the student application process for, faculty committee determination of, and award disbursement for Hanson Summer Service Scholarships, Schroeder Summer Language Scholarships, Schroeder Academic scholarships for incoming first year students, Jobar International summer scholarships, Harris summer internships, Berens Finance Scholarships, and Korinke Scholarships.
  • Supports distinctive Global Business Department programs, such three speaker-series throughout the academic year; students seeking summer internships and full-time employment; the semi-annual Target Case Study; and the twice annual Wilke Career Pathways.
  • Maintains department confidence and safeguards operations by keeping information confidential; adheres to all safety and housekeeping policies and procedures; contributes to team effort by accomplishing related duties as needed.
  • Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned or directed.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with two (2) years of additional coursework in related fields plus three (3) years of related experience in a similar position or an equivalent combination thereof. Considerable knowledge of clerical procedures including word processing, advanced Excel, basic math skills and knowledge of recordkeeping required. Successful candidate must possess excellent organizational and communication skills both verbal and written; have good independent judgment and a demonstrated ability to set priorities; be able to maintain multiple ongoing tasks on a tight deadline; develop effective working relationships with faculty, students, staff, and community members, including executives and international dignitaries. Must competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students, visitors, faculty and staff.
