Assistant Director of Student Engagement & Inclusion

Primary Purpose
The Assistant Director of Student Engagement and Inclusion provides leadership, vision, and direction for all aspects of campus activities, student involvement, multicultural and inclusion programs, student organizations, campus-wide programming and will assist with summer camps and conferences as needed. This is a twelve-month full-time position that is live-in with rotating on-call responsibilities.

Salary is $36,000 plus room & board and benefits

Essential Duties
General Responsibilities

1. Provide leadership and supervision for all aspects of Student Engagement including staffing, programming, community building, WUMM (campus radio station), student organizations and Student Activities Involvement and Leadership (SAIL).

2. Provide leadership and supervision for multicultural and inclusivity programming, and community building.

3. Provide stewardship for use of the Student Activity Fee.

4. Oversee all student clubs and organizations, serving as their contact, facilitator and mentor.

5. Attend meetings, programs and events sponsored by SAIL.

6. Provide regular assessment/evaluation of all areas of responsibility.

7. Manage student organization University sponsored web pages.

8. Collaborate with other University staff on student retention programs.

9. Provide on-call support for residential students.

10. Carry out additional reasonable and related responsibilities as assigned by direct supervisor.


Campus Activities

1. Promote student involvement, engagement, and success by providing social, educational, and recreational programming, planned to enhance co-curricular learning and developing a sense of community.

2. Negotiate agency and performer contracts.

3. Maintain a campus-wide calendar including programming from other departments and student clubs and organizations.

4. Establish and work collaboratively with a student programming board.

5. Plan, coordinate and facilitate major campus events for students, including but not limited to: Summer Orientation, Welcome Week, Homecoming & Family Weekend, Winter Carnival, Spring Weekend, and Late Night Breakfasts.


Student Clubs and Organizations

1. Serve as general advisor for all student clubs and organizations. Provide guidance on registration, program and event planning, fiscal management, policy and procedure, and access to resources and leadership development.

2. Advise Greek Council and Student Senate.

3. Maintain status and contact information for all organizations.

4. Develop, implement, maintain and evaluate support systems for student organizations from the University administrative perspective.

5. Establish a consistent process for forming and maintaining a student organization.

6. Provide training and development opportunities for organization leaders/officers.

7. Develop a student organization advisor program that seeks to recruit, train and support advisors, and assist student organizations in building strong relationships with advisors.

8. Provide assessment/evaluation of advisor program.

9. Establish, create and maintain all policies and procedures for student clubs and organizations and maintain the Student Organization Handbook.


Student Leadership Development

1. Foster leadership skills and traits in new students who show potential to become student leaders


Budget Responsibilities

1. Stewardship of Student Activity Fund.

2. Ensure club and organizations are following spending policies and procedures.

3. Offer guidance as advisor to Student Senate and WUMM about their operating budget.

4. Prepare and manage Student Engagement’s budgets.


Orientation

1. Develop and implement summer, fall and winter orientations.


Deputy Title IX Coordinator

1. Receive student reports of dating violence, domestic violence, gender discrimination, sexual assault, sexual harassment, stalking and retaliation.

2. Serve as a neutral resource and support for both reporting and responding parties.

3. Educate both parties on their options, on-campus and off-campus resources, and assist in making referrals as necessary.

4. Maintain accurate and thorough records.

5. In consultation with the Title IX Coordinator, implement the University’s education and training related to sexual violence, harassment, and discrimination prevention efforts.

Qualifications:
Required

1. Bachelor’s degree.

2. Minimum two years professional experience in campus activities, student engagement, multicultural affairs, leadership or related experience.


Preferred

1. Master’s degree in Higher Education or related field.

2. Three to four years experience in areas such as campus activities, student engagement, multicultural affairs, leadership or related experience.

3. Some direct experience working in, or with, residence life.

4. Experience/qualifications to coach a college level sport
