The Student Finance Representative is responsible for reviewing student files, evaluating financial aid applications, awarding and advising students on their eligibility for Title IV funding. Positions assigned to this classification will have a high technical knowledge of financial aid programs and procedures to independently assist students and peers over the phone and via electronic correspondence. The position requires analytical skills and the ability to work independently and with a sense of urgency. In addition, the position requires that all job responsibilities are completed accurately and compliantly in accordance with Title IV regulations

Outcomes:

Comply with all Federal, State, and institutional policies and procedures. Ability to understand and interpret Title IV regulations. Administers the daily tasks of the Federal Work Study (FWS) and Graduate Assistant (GA) Student Employment Programs. Coordinate and monitor all FWS and GA positions and placement of students. Update FWS/GA policies and required documents each award year. Maintain job descriptions, pay rates, job placement, etc. Responsible for the communication and training of FWS supervisors (both on and off campus), and the partnership with Human Resources and Payroll to ensure a seamless employment experience for the student. Reconciles federal and state work study accounts monthly with the Finance Office and prepares monthly department reports by managing Federal Work-Study pay loaders. Ensures annual individual and overall institutional allocations are not exceeded and provides management with regular updates. Supervise Peer Advisors within the Student Finance Office. Establishes and develops relationships with community service agencies for participation in the Federal Work Study Program and ensures all required documentation is collected before any students are placed at the agency.
Calculate award eligibility using a borrower based academic year (BBAY) or standard academic year (SAY) and certify federal and private student loans. Maintain knowledge of Federal Student Aid and internal University awarding, disbursing, and refund regulations. Maintain and coordinates awarding and student aging reports and actively outreach student to resolve issue. Maintain the University’s administrative requirements for student financial aid and separation of duties. Maintain compliance requirements for state and federal student financial aid. Ability to effectively communicate knowledge gained in training to students and team members.
Ensure ethical and accurate documentation and record keeping which meets all company and regulatory agency standards. Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers. Participate as an active team member of the Student Finance Office and ensure active communication and cohesive working relationships with all other departments.
Other duties as assigned.

Your Competencies:

At least 1 year of experience in a financial aid department of an accredited college or university with direct responsibility for advising on or awarding Title IV activities or programs preferred.
Associate’s Degree or comparable work experience required. Bachelors degree preferred.
