Provide technical leadership, expertise and technical support on Banner database management, security and underlying technical architect platforms. This includes the ongoing Oracle database maintenance, upgrades and support, the effective management of Banner 9 technical platform, Admin Pages and Banner 9 applications deployments, as well as other enterprise systems maintenance and support including technical assessment, upgrade, performance tuning and environment standardization. The incumbent is also responsible for developing an effective DR Strategy, and performing test practices to ensure Business Continuity. The incumbent will have the opportunity to lead and migrate the future ERP to multi-tenant hybrid Cloud, the Oracle 19C database upgrade, and configuration of Ellucian Ethos platform, as well as other technological platforms that aligns with Information Technology’s future development strategies that support Emerson College.

The Database System Administrator is responsible for the Administration, integration, automation and oversight of key College data systems, including Banner ERP and its components (such as INB, SSB, ODS,EDW, or Workflow), along with other related or integrated systems such as Nolij or the CBORD Campus ID system. Serve as key technical and administrative resource for enterprise systems and develop an extremely deep understanding of their workings. Assist with the development, integration, and implementation of processes within enterprise systems and the interactions between enterprise systems and other systems at the College. Provide high-level support to other members of IT and advanced end-users. Develop and manage change management processes related to enterprise systems. Serve as primary contact for enterprise systems security requests. Maintain data security of enterprise data systems.

Primary Duties, Responsibilites, and TasksRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Education (including hardware, software, and equipment)

• Windows and Linux server administration skills, along with exposure to Banner ERP systems, Banner ODS, CBORD, and SQL.
• Ability to work independently on large and complex projects that affect the enterprise.
• A good general understanding of programming practice and relational database applications
• Project management skills, an ability to focus on the big picture while addressing numerous details, and the ability to quickly digest and understand business processes are essential. Well-honed communication skills are necessary.
• Strong personal organization, and the ability to describe technical processes to non-technical users, is very important.

Preferred/Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Education (including hardware, software, and equipment)

• Oracle expertise and/or certification preferred.
• Prior Ellucian Banner training preferred.
• Windows and/or Linux training or certification preferred.

Required Prior Work Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related fields or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

7+ years of experience working as database administrator and/or enterprise systems architect

Individual Work Activities

●Serve as primary contact for enterprise systems on server security, database security, and data compliance of enterprise data system. Responsible for the system administration, integration, automation and support to the college’s key applications and data architect, including Workday and Banner ERP which includes components such as Banner Admin Pages, Application Navigator, Banner 9 Applications, SSB, ODS, Degree Works, Xtender, Ethos Identify Manager, SSO configuration and support within the ERP Banner scope
●Support other ancillary or enterprise integrated systems including Automatic, CBORD Campus ID system and EMS in terms of configuration, upgrade and database management
●Lead migration and configuration of Banner ERP to bare mental multi-tenant Cloud platform. Administrate and support DR as stand-by, perform regular switch-over practice and test in a hybrid Cloud and on-premise environment
●Build and maintain a flexible and scalable enterprise system architecture to oversee the provisioning, deployment, automation, backup and storage in multi-tenant Cloud platform
●Define and recommend Cloud Data Services configuration, to effectively deploy and manage Banner 9 technical platform, database servers, Admin Pages and Banner 9 applications
●lead Oracle database 19C upgrade to successfully migrate Banner 9 onto Oracle 19C
●Configure Ethos Data Model, Ethos API and work with the enterprise systems team to develop a multi-source data architect for growing need of advanced integration, reporting and analytics
●Provide system, database and middle tier server management, as well as support of other members of IT
●Develop and manage change through change management, documentation and knowledge sharing related to enterprise systems and data management
●Highly motivated in a fast-paced environment where multi-tasking, time management and commitment to success
●Maintain awareness of technical trends and releases with Oracle and Banner regarding security patches, releases and technological paradigm shift. Actively participate in Oracle and Banner discussion forum and support line to keep information in close context
●Perform other duties as assigned
