General Summary

The Program Manager is primarily responsible for the implementation, management, and monitoring of the day-to-day operations of IGH’s A Place to Call Home initiative. A Place to Call Home was designed to help 150 cities across the globe end street homelessness by 2030, by bridging research and action, cultivating and connecting local leaders, facilitating goal setting, and supporting progress towards those goals.
The Program Manager will be based in IGH’s Chicago headquarters and will work closely with all members of the IGH professional staff, IGH Advisory Committee, and external partners. This position requires extensive international travel, and occasional nights and weekends.

Responsibilities & Duties

Program Planning and Administration:

  • In close collaboration with the Executive Director and IGH Advisory Committee, establish goals, timelines, and benchmarks related to A Place to Call Home.
  • Provide written quarterly program reports for the IGH Advisory Committee and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor and track expenses within the A Place to Call Home annual budget.
  • Provide support as needed for fundraising towards A Place to Call Home, including contributing written content for grant applications and donor reports.

Program Implementation and Monitoring:
  • Serve as the primary liaison to potential A Place to Call Home cities for inquiries and recruitment activities.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to confirmed A Place to Call Home cities, facilitating goal setting, hosting monthly coaching calls, providing hands-on support and training, building connections between city leaders, monitoring progress towards goals, etc.
  • Manage external and internal communications related to A Place to Call Home, including monthly update newsletters between the cities and an online forum.
  • Organize and manage meetings and events related to A Place to Call Home, including the official launch of each city and the annual cities summit.
  • Manage contracts and deliverables with researchers, content experts, and other implementation partners.

Organizational Duties:
  • Participate as a full member of the IGH professional team, attending weekly staff meetings and one-on-one meetings with the Executive Director.
  • Participate in opportunities to promote IGH within DePaul University, such as presenting at “Lightning Talks” or supporting faculty teaching on the issue of homelessness.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • A minimum of five years previous work experience in a professional environment.
  • A minimum of two years previous work experience managing a complex program, initiative, or project.

Preferred Requirements

  • Master’s Degree.
  • Content management and writing experience.

Managerial Responsibilities

  • Opportunity to oversee work related to A Place to Call Home performed by the administrative assistant and student workers.

Financial Responsibilities

  • Monitor and track expenses within the A Place to Call Home annual budget.

Other Skills & Abilities Reqd

  • Second language strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Google suite, including Gmail and Google Doc.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced, dynamic environment and a willingness to shift easily between various responsibilities with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-manage, working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and ownership of decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to receive and relay criticism constructively.
  • Excellent level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to embrace and actively support the unique culture and values of IGH.
