Research Assistant, Temporary - Georgetown University Medical Center

Requirements

The Research Assistant oversees the day-to-day administrative responsibilities, including handling office and email traffic, handling routine phone calls, and filing. S/he organizes and tracks multiple concurrent projects, as well as organizes and manages electronic and paper files. Reporting directly to Sophie Krensky, Project Manager of PharmedOut with ad hoc support in daily office operations, as well as PharmedOut's Director Dr. Fugh-Berman as needed, the Research Assistant has additional duties that include but are not limited to:
  • Manages office systems, including setting up filing and organizational systems.
  • Assists with communications, including writing emails to PharmedOut contacts, and corresponding with donors, volunteers, and other Georgetown departments.
  • Responds to requests for information and other inquiries, providing PharmedOut resources.
  • Conducts background research for papers and prepares manuscripts for publication, including fact checking, copy editing, and formatting.
  • Designs brochures, posters, flyers, promotional materials, and other materials as needed, copyediting and formatting manuscripts, brochures, and other materials.
  • Helps to maintain the PharmedOut website, Facebook, and Twitter pages, including identifying potential content, monitoring and compiling media mentions, PharmedOut publications, and relevant resources to create webpage and social media updates.
  • Keeps track of the calendar, travel planning, and inventorying promotional items as necessary.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Previous managerial or administrative experience
  • Editing, writing, and research skills using electronic bibliographic databases
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent organizational, communications, time management, and multi-tasking skills
  • An interest in public health and/or improving healthcare practices
  • Ability to stay focused on tasks in a sometimes chaotic environment and to interact positively with diverse personalities
  • A high degree of flexibility and problem-solving skills
  • Fundraising experience and knowledge of Dreamweaver, HTML, and/or graphics software a plus
