Governors State University’s College of Arts and Sciences seeks to create an available pool of local (Chicagoland area) Adjunct Faculty candidates to teach courses in philosophy and religious studies.
We are particularly interested in adjunct faculty to teach courses in the following areas: Logic & Practical Reasoning, World Religions, Religion in the United States, Women in Philosophy, Black & Africana Philosophies. Please visit http://www.govst.edu/cas for more information.
Interested individuals are invited to complete a faculty profile, attach a curriculum vita, cover letter and transcripts for consideration. If available, please also include a sample syllabus from one of your current or most recent undergraduate courses.
At Governors State University, adjunct faculty are hired as temporary faculty with teaching responsibilities for a specific course in a semester or summer session. Adjuncts are not a part of the faculty bargaining unit and are not included in membership of the Faculty Senate.

Minimum Qualifications

A Master’s degree in Philosophy, Religious Studies, Humanities, Social Sciences, or a closely related discipline.

Experience teaching undergraduate classes at an accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications

A doctoral degree in Philosophy, Religious Studies, Humanities, Social Sciences, or a closely related discipline.
Experience teaching philosophy at an accredited college or university.
Experience teaching religious studies at an accredited college or university.
Experience teaching online at an accredited college or university.
