Posting DetailsPosting Number: 0601020 Position Category: Director Div/Dpt AD Job Title: Director of Academic Advising Position Code: 00193X Position Type: Staff Department: Enrollment Management Nature of Work: The Director of Advising reports directly to the Executive Director of Student Success and provides day-to-day leadership to Success Coaches. The Director will oversee the daily operations of the advising team including establishing processes and programming, supporting new initiatives, budget oversight, and facilitating both external and internal communication channels. The Director will serve as the first point of contact for questions, cases, and student events that escalate beyond the success coaches' defined parameters and/or training. The Director will be the liaison between the success coaches and other enrollment management leaders, Chairs, and Deans as appropriate.

The Director of Advising will facilitate the management of advising and registration processes, analyze appropriate data to assess the effectiveness of advising strategies and processes as well as facilitate the implementation of innovative methods to promote communication and proactive connections with students. Additionally, the Director will promote and facilitate relationships between success coaches and members of academic affairs, enrollment management teams, faculty members, and other members of the enrollment management team to ensure strong communication channels and promotion of an integrated student success model. -Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years' experience in higher education with 3 or more years' experience in advising/student success.
-Minimum of three years' experience working within higher education serving student populations.
-Demonstrated ability to design and implement systems necessary to collect, maintain, and analyze data.
-Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with key stakeholders (internal and external) to foster the spirit of engagement.
-Excellent communication skills.
-Ability to balance multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously.
-Must be student-centric and customer service oriented. Testing Requirements:Illustrative Examples of Work: The Director of Advising is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of Success Coaches. Duties include, but are not limited to:

-Stay abreast of best practices in advising and advising theories.
-Serve as the university representative for the Board of Regents' Academic Advising Committee .
-Serve as the first point of contact for questions, cases, and student events that escalate beyond the success coaches' parameters and/or training.
-Serve as the liaison between the success coaches the Registrar and academic chairs and deans, as appropriate.
-Promote and facilitate relationships between success coaches and members of academic affairs, enrollment management teams, faculty members, and other members of CESF.
-Manage success coach time off request and required Title III reporting.
-Data analysis and assessment of success coach processes to determine effectiveness and suggest adjustments as needed.
-Implementation and training when new processes, methodologies, or innovations are introduced to enhance the success coaches' ability to promote student success.
-Provide training to new success coaches to ensure a smooth transition into the role.
-Facilitate the effective recruitment, selection, development, and evaluation of success coach staff, including student-workers, as appropriate to support the advising unit.
-Assist in developing and promoting a student-centric culture that is focused on collaboration, contribution, excellent customer service, and a passion for student success.
-Manage time off request and required Title III documentation in regards to personnel, as well as periodic evaluations of Success Coach performance.
