The Department of Emergency Medicine is currently seeking Two (2) Addictions Counselors. This individual will primarily provide assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning, along with the potential for individual counseling, in an urgent care based substance use identification and referral program, while meeting all standards of practice as required by Ohio MHAS and other regulatory bodies.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Identify, assess, and diagnose individuals with substance use disorders in an acute care setting.
  2. Address clinical case disposition including patient transfers, referrals and discharges.
  3. Complete assessments, treatment plans and progress notes for all assigned patients.
  4. Participate in and provide clinical information regarding patients at treatment team meetings.
  5. Provide case management, individual and group counseling services to adults.
  6. Follow documentation requirements for Ohio MHAS and other regulatory bodies.
  7. Maintains knowledge of and compliance with HIPAA, policies, documentation guidelines, and other related regulatory requirements.
  8. Ensure client outcomes are completed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree with three (3) years clinical counseling experience. State licensure as a Professional Clinical Counselor with supervision designation (PCC-S) -OR- state licensure as a Professional Counselor (PC) and current enrollment in a doctoral program in a counseling field.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Ohio Licensure as a LICDC, LPCC, or LISW. LICDC preferred.
  2. 3 years’ experience providing treatment to individuals with addictions. Experience with MAT treatment and co-occurring disorders preferred.
  3. Experience working in a variety of treatment settings including urgent care settings.
  4. Knowledge of local community resources and referrals.
  5. Experience conducting individual, group and case management services.
  6. Knowledge of crisis intervention, multicultural and socio-economic issues.
  7. Basic advocacy skills. Ability to utilize analysis, experience, and judgment to make sound decisions.
