Preferred Qualifications Position Summary

Synthetic chemistry position. In this appointment, the employee will be responsible for providing synthetic chemistry support for small molecular drug discovery and medicinal chemistry optimization. The employee will participate in planning, designing and conducting highly technical synthetic chemical operations under the supervision of a Principal Investigator and will analyze research data, provide interpretations, contribute to the development of research documentation for publications and provide technical reports, papers, and records.

Stand for long periods of time, walk up to one mile, and lift approximately 25 pounds.

Contribute to research progress on projects combining methods development and multiple-step synthesis directed at the design, synthesis and characterization of complex bioactive small molecules.

Synthesize, purify, characterize, and test complex compounds and analogs. Contribute to progress reports, grant applications and publications derived from project data.

Maintain external awareness of scientific discipline through familiarity with current scientific literature. Operate and maintain scientific equipment. Observe appropriate safety requirements. Communicate regularly and in a timely fashion with the PI regarding research and other issues relevant to the operation of the laboratory. Assist with the supervision of junior members of the laboratory. Other duties as assigned by PI.
