Position Information

Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications Position Summary

Will work with a variety of applications that support the Office for Research’s business processes. These applications currently utilize JavaScript, Jscript, JAVA, and C# languages and run on a variety of frameworks including Huron Software’s Portal environment, NodeJS, and others. Position duties span the entire product lifecycle from design, development, testing to issue tracking and resolution.ff.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

1.Strong JavaScript fundamentals
2.Strong Node.js fundamentals
3.Jscript knowledge
4.Source control experience (GitHub and/or TFS)
5.Experience working with an object oriented framework
6.Basic understanding of SQL

9.Strong self-learner
10.Strong communication skills, including code and process documentation abilities

Work with UGA’s implementation of the Huron ClickCommerce Extranet framework. The extranet framework currently runs business processes for UGA OVPR’s Office for Sponsored Projects Administration and Human Subjects Office. Process for Animal Operations and Biosafety Compliance are in development. Duties will encompass the entire product lifecycle from new project design to production bug tracking and corrections.

Percentage of time 40 Duties/Responsibilities


Work with OVPR’s Data Warehouse. The Data Warehouse collects and parses data from many sources and, using SSIS and Java, builds a custom data repository that feed most other OVPR applications.

Percentage of time 25 Duties/Responsibilities


Build and maintain a suite of Java applications. OVPR has many custom applications used for specialized purposes. This position is responsible for maintaining this suite of applications and building new applications as needed.

Percentage of time 20 Duties/Responsibilities


Work as part of a programming team: developing and maintaining programming standards documentation, maintaining a standard development environment, work with other programmers to review code and ensure that all deliverables meet OVPR’s coding standards.
