Master’s degreePosition Summary
The Research Analyst is a public service faculty position reporting to the Director of Applied Research. Faculty in this position determine research objectives, develop research methods, conduct primary and secondary research, prepare research reports, and present findings to external and internal audiences. The Research Analyst also responds to requests for research and seeks external funding to support select research projects. Statewide travel is required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducts research projects; develops data-gathering instruments and methods; performs complex data analysis, and derives conclusions and implications from the
analysis consistent with research proposal outline and time frame. Utilize secondary sources as appropriate, including government databases (e.g. Department of Labor) and our internal database, UNITY, where we maintain records of statewide consulting and training.
Analyzes internal UGA SBDC performance data, economic impact results and compare to the needs and goals within various areas of the state.
Stays abreast of economic development trends, especially related to small business development and entrepreneurship. Applies this knowledge to UGA SBDC strategic planning and resource allocation.
Suggests research projects, articles, and publications related to economic development, small business, and/or entrepreneurship; develops these projects and writings to assist the targeted audience; disseminates results, presents findings.
Seeks outside funding for economic development, small business and entrepreneurship research projects, including grant and research proposal writing, and presentations.
Communicates the research results; prepare white papers and make presentations to UGA SBDC management. Writes, reviews, and edits reports on the results of research investigations; presents findings of research studies as required for client organizations or interested parties, such as development authorities, legislative committees, chambers of commerce, etc. Writes articles for UGA SBDC statewide newsletter, blog, and other relevant print or electronic outlets.
Assist in the continued development, implementation, and updating of the organization’s strategic plan. Ensure that organizational goals and objectives are accomplished in a timely and thorough manner. Work with division colleagues to develop and deploy annual division action plan that corresponds with the organizational strategic plan, is tailored to meet the specific economic development research needs within the state, and capitalize on the skills of division personnel. Prepare individual work plan, including professional development initiatives, which support division objectives.
Perform all responsibilities efficiently and effectively within assigned division. Ensure that administrative policies are followed, that programs are innovative and responsive, and that top-quality services are delivered. Utilize client and management feedback in striving for continuous improvement. Maintain positive, professional relations with other departments and institutions.
Represent Director of Applied Research when requested and perform other duties as assigned.Additional Requirements
To be considered at the level of Public Service Assistant, Public Service Associate or Senior Public Service Associate, candidates must have a Master’s degree in in Business Administration, Statistics, Political Science, Public Administration or related field of study as well as at least 2 years of experience in an applied or client-based research position.
