Develops strategies, policies, and procedures for admissions, recruitment, or both. Supports recruitment efforts by interviewing and evaluating applicants; supports admissions efforts by selecting applicants for admission and coordinating admissions across the University. May travel and recruit in a specific territory. Counsels students and parents regarding the admissions process.

P3: Requires in-depth knowledge and experience. Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external University issues to improve products or services. Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions. Works independently, receives minimal guidance. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Role ImpactIndividual Contributor

ResponsibilitiesThe job independently executes admission strategies, policies, and procedures. Works with minimal guidance to recruit, interview, evaluate, and/or select applicants for admission and coordinates admissions across the University. Acts as a resource for students and parents regarding complicated queries related to the admissions process.

1) Designs plans to increase brand awareness and alumni engagement as it relates to the College's admissions in the relevant region. Develops relationships with high schools and school counselors in the area. Plans and attends yield events, information sessions, and college fairs., 2) Expands outreach messaging via alumni clubs and special events and/or reunions. Maintains updated alumni contact records and cultivates new contacts in appropriate industries. Manages portfolio of prospective students that require special handling., 3) Manages regional event programming such as receptions and career trek field trips for students. Works independently to expand outreach to employers in the region., 4) Performs other related work as needed.

Unit-Specific Responsibilities

1) The Associate Director, Admissions Events and Recruiting Operations is primarily responsible for managing all aspects of events for the Evening MBA and Weekend MBA admissions team.

2) Lead strategy and activities to manage and expand current student and alumni engagement and participation in such events.

3) Serves as Evening/Weekend Admissions point for cross-departmental events and coordinate cross-departmental events when needed.

4) Will assist admissions’ recruiters with application reviews and interviews as needed.

5) Collaborate with senior associate director to set the annual schedule for admissions events in Chicago and across North America. 

6) Point person for all Admissions event coordination.

7) Leads strategy and tactics to engage and expand current students and alumni who participate in admissions events.

8) Continually improve admissions event strategy and schedule by utilizing Slate data, market data, and feedback from the team.

9) Serves as Evening/Weekend Admissions point for cross-departmental events and coordinate cross-departmental events as needed.

10) Leads the efforts in key internal operational activities, including but not limited to, budgetary planning and reporting and reconciliation of Gems accounts for staff.

11) Manages the budget for the above events; tracks expenses and communicates current and projected status as necessary.

12) Assist Admission Recruiters with application reviews and interviews as needed.

Unit-Preferred Competencies

1) Proficiency with accounting and budget management experience.

2) Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

3) Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills, as well as organizational skills.

4) Ability to work independently with little supervision; possess a self-motivated disposition; ability to identify opportunities for improvement and recommend effective changes.

5) Excellent strategic planning, critical thinking, analytical, and persuasion skills.

6) Ability to work on project simultaneously and meet strict deadlines with frequent interruptions and during seasonal high volume.

7) Demonstrated ability to work effectively and diplomatically with colleagues, as well as with students, faculty and corporate contacts.

8) Professional demeanor, including tact, discretion, and a customer service-oriented approach.

9) Ability to work the following schedules: 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, as the regular schedule with every third or fourth week shifting to a 5-day workweek to include a Saturday shift from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; late night office coverage (11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.) two or three times per month; various weekend/nights as needed (on average 6 nights/quarter and 5 Saturdays/quarter).

Education, Experience, and CertificationsMinimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

1) A minimum of three years of experience managing projects or programs.

2) Experience with SLATE.
