Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University’s Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute campus is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow Increasing Clam Production Through Genetic Selection, Fort Pierce, FL. This position is located at FAU's Harbor Branch campus in Fort Pierce, FL.

The Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to conduct research designed to improve clam seed production, through genetic selection (development of lines adapted to changing environment (e.g. thermal tolerant, pH tolerant, etc.), and dietary optimization (e.g. algal strains, mixtures, ratios) to enhance spawning success and seed performance. RNA seq methods will be used to ID potential markers association with production variation seen between developed lines in response to changing environmental parameters. The Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to present results at scientific conferences, lead and contribute to scientific journal articles, and oversee interns and/or students.    

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD from an accredited institution in Aquaculture, Biology, or related field required by the time of application.

Experience using standard molecular biology techniques required.

Experience working with clams or other bivalves preferred.

Must be organized, detailed oriented, have a strong work ethic, good communication skills; and the ability to work as part of a team.

Must be able to work in less than ideal environments including outdoors in extreme heat and humidity.
