Job Description:


The Budget Analyst/Advisor will assist in the development of the College's annual all funds budget and related monitoring and reporting. The position involves working closely with both the regional academic operations and the administrative departments of Empire State College. The Analyst/Advisor will support management in analyzing and monitoring the College's performance supporting the creation and communication of the annual budget, quarterly financial and operational reports and various ad-hoc financial and operational analyses.


Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President for Budget and Finance, the Budget Analyst/Advisor will collaborate with campus constituents to determine campus needs, priorities and criteria, for resourcing college operations and initiatives supporting the college. Serving as a key member of the Office of Administration, this individual will share the responsibility for daily management and oversight of financial accounting and reporting, financial planning and budgeting, and coordination of related activities.



Key Duties to Include:


  • Partner with campus Regional Directors, Associate Deans, President's Cabinet, Vice Presidents and account managers to identify and properly resource the functional academic and administrative operations
  • Review and analyze financial data to monitor financial performance, identify emerging issues and recommend solutions to maximize financial resources and promote efficiency
  • Develop reporting procedures, prepare financial reports, prepare and analyze various accounts and funds, track and analyze revenues and expenses posted to regional operations and assist Regional Directors, Associate Deans, President's Cabinet, Vice Presidents and account managers in areas of accounting, reporting and reconciling from the College's financial systems
  • Collect, compile and analyze revenue and expense data, including academic data regarding enrollment, credit hours and academic programs
  • Support the annual budget process and provide analysis of budget vs actual results. Assist with the implementation of the financial plan and annual budget submission process ensuring the timely uploading of budget data to the University Budget Office
  • Assist the Executive Vice President for Administration and the Assistant Vice President of Budget and Finance with various financial and administrative requests
  • Responsible for developing various ad-hoc financial performance analysis and preparing business cases and budget proposals for projects and operational needs
  • Provide verbal and/or written reports, including presentations to campus leadership regarding financial matters



Requirements:


Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting/financial environment
  • Ability to analyze financial and other data
  • MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook proficiency
  • Must have strong analytical and organizational skills, the ability to multi-task and be project oriented


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience in higher education

This position is located in Saratoga Springs, NY. Some travel is required. VISA sponsorship is not available for this position.



Rank/Salary: $55,000-$60,000 dependent on experience
