Director, Academic Advising - Georgetown University Law Center

Director Academic Advising - Georgetown University Law Center

This position is responsible for academic advising and program development. As an Academic Advisor for Georgetown Law students, this individual will have a strong understanding of academic policies and requirements and of the curriculum. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for advising and programming for J.D. joint and concurrent degree students and J.D. students who seek enroll in courses on the Main Campus in addition to all other J.D. students.
  • Responsible for drafting, assessing, and enforcing academic policies as necessary.
  • Develop and execute academic events, including programs for joint degree students.
  • Develop and suggest programmatic enhancements to best meet student needs.

  • Requires a J.D.
  • 5 years of legal experience or equivalent experience
  • Superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills and a record of academic success
  • Careful attention to detail and the ability to be a thoughtful and creative problem solver while working with various constituencies within the Law Center and the University
  • Ability to juggle multiple competing priorities and meet firm deadlines
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred qualifications
  • Previous experience in higher education and/or academic counseling
  • Experience with databases
