Job Description

The Department of Science and Mathematics, in the College of Arts and Sciences, seeks applications from qualified candidates for a full-time non-tenure track Lecturer position in Physics, specializing in algebra- and calculus-based introductory physics courses, focused on best classroom practices and/or assessment methods in lower-division course work, beginning in fall 2019. Teaching of both lower and upper division undergraduate courses is expected. The College seeks excellence in instruction. The regular teaching load is 5/5, or 4/4 if reassigned for service. Summer teaching assignments may be available but are not guaranteed.  

Required Education:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Physics, or a related field of study, with a minimum of 18 hours of graduate courses in physics or a related field.

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Strong self-discipline and ability to work independently.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
  • Ability to interact with students at both lower-division and upper-division levels.
     

Job Responsibilities

  • Teach four or five three-hour courses per semester (or their equivalent) 
  • Teach physics courses at lower- and upper-division undergraduate levels
  • Service and committee work at the program, department, college, university, community, and profession levels.
     

This is a non-tenure-track position requiring teaching and service responsibilities (if reassigned by the department chair). Applicants should submit the following documents for review:
