The School of Engineering at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) seeks outstanding applicants for a tenure-track appointment in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, with a start date in August 2020. The search is open to candidates specializing in the general area of dynamic systems and control, and robotics. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, demonstrated excellence in academic research, and a proven track record of teaching and advising students.

The department is strategically enhancing the area of Dynamic Systems and Control, and Robotics. This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to help with the development of the associated curriculum, laboratories, and elective offerings in the area of Dynamic Systems and Control. The successful candidate will develop state-of-the-art laboratories in the area of Dynamic Systems and Control and teach related courses and laboratories.

Specific responsibilities include: teaching at all levels from introductory through advanced special topics courses, developing and teaching laboratories in the area of dynamic systems and control, and developing and maintaining a productive research laboratory, providing service across campus and to the profession, and supporting accreditation needs through assessment and other duties. We seek faculty members with a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring who will create a climate that embraces excellence and diversity, to attract and retain a diverse, talented student body. The College of New Jersey and its faculty view research and education as mutually supportive activities. A successful candidate must demonstrate plans for research that integrate teaching and undergraduate student participation with their scholarly interests. This candidate must also be committed to the teacher-scholar model at a residential, primarily undergraduate institution. This is an exciting time to join the Department of Mechanical Engineering at TCNJ. The Bachelor of Science programs in Mechanical Engineering currently enroll ~180 students and are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org. The School of Engineering is expanding its facilities with new and renovated spaces and is part of an overall investment by TCNJ in the STEM Complex, a place where multidisciplinary collaborations are strongly encouraged. The School of Engineering has recently invested over $2 million in new equipment. The School of Engineering is guided by a strategic plan that includes a study of potential graduate-level engineering programs.
