Overview

Princeton University seeks a highly motivated individual to join the Department of Molecular Biology as a part time Collaborative Research Coordinator. This individual will coordinate a newly funded program between Princeton University and Rutgers University. The new grant has enabled the creation of the NJ Alliance for Clinical and Translational Science (NJ ACTS). https://njacts.rbhs.rutgers.edu/. The purpose of the NJ ACTS is to develop research and educational programs and collaborations between the schools, and to encourage translational research - transferring discoveries made in basic biological research to the clinical setting.

The Coordinator role has the overall goal of helping to accomplish the NJ ACTS mission - training the next generation of researchers and building infrastructure and resources to propel discovery, development and dissemination in translational research across New Jersey.

Reporting to the Principal Investigator of the grant at Princeton, this position is a 50% time, 5-year term with the possibility of renewal. Specific hours are to be determined during normal business hours.

Please submit a cover letter as part of the application process.

Responsibilities
The Coordinator will take initiative to find ways to ensure the success of the NJ ACTS grant. This will involve familiarization with the faculty and their research areas at both institutions. It may involve finding ways to make connections between faculty with similar research interests, and to facilitate interaction, collaboration and cohesion. A project management role will be required for collaborations as they arise.

The Coordinator will assure that members of the Princeton community are aware of opportunities provided by NJ ACTS as they emerge, including restricted research grants, pilot project awards, workshops, and research facilities.

  • The coordinator will provide support to trainees (students and early-stage faculty) supported by NIH awards, making them aware of research resources and educational opportunities, and facilitating interactions with the broader NJ ACTS community at Princeton, Rutgers, and similar entities at other research universities.
  • Disseminate information on NJ ACTS to Princeton faculty and trainees funded by the grant.
  • Maintain records of faculty participants (Academy of Mentors), trainees, grants and publications.
  • Publicize the grant and its activities through websites, newsletters and pilot grant requests for applications (RFAs).
  • Interact with administrative counterparts at Rutgers and other universities.
  • Attend administrative meetings representing Princeton as necessary.
Grants Management:

  • Provide NJ ACTS-related programmatic and administrative support for the Principle Investigator of the grant at Princeton.
  • Serve as primary financial manager for Princeton's portion of the grant.
  • Transfer funds to PIs and other Princeton departments as necessary.
  • Monitor budgets and administration of funds.
