GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
Kirkwood Community College (Cedar Rapids Campus) is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach BUS-185 Business Law I on our main campus in Cedar Rapids. The course is taught Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 8:00am-8:55am beginning August 26th and concluding December 13th.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated knowledge and experience applying business law topics. ie: Torts, Contracts, Entity Establishment, Intellectual Property.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaching assigned class(es) and communicating with department staff, students and faculty. Adjunct faculty play a vital role in instruction. Adjunct instructors are responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. Adjunct faculty bring with them a variety of backgrounds and professional experiences which serve to foster growth in the subject matter and enrich student learning. Adjunct faculty must evaluate, record, and report student achievement and progress in assigned courses in accordance with department, division, and college policies and procedures. Must be able to design and participate in assessment of student learning projects within the discipline, the department, and the college.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.).
